Pope Leo sent supplies to Ukraine as people suffer from bombing, freezing temperatures

Pope Leo recently directed three trucks to be loaded with generators, food and medicine for the Ukrainian cities of Kyiv, Fastiv, Odessa and Kharkiv.

For the fourth successive year, Ukrainians have endured heavy bombing in sub-freezing temperatures. This winter, temperatures dropped to 5 degrees Fahrenheit overnight and 10 to 15 degrees during the daytime. Some people have left their homes to search for safe and warm shelter.

Supplies included 80 electricity generators, which have already been distributed. In addition to providing heat, generators also make it possible to prepare hot meals.

The shipment of food replenishes supplies. Thousands of medicines included antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, supplements and melatonin, which promotes sleep — a great relief for the constant fear and hypertension.

Pope Leo plans to dispatch another truckload of food and medicine.
