Nia Moore

Central Catholic High School

A vibrant senior at Central Catholic High School, Nia Moore is dedicated to her coursework and her future education to become a physician. She plans to attend a four-year university to study health sciences. Moore has volunteered at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in the oncology department, visiting patients and restocking medical carts.

At Central Catholic, Moore has been a member of the Honor Roll, Science National Honors Society, American Sign Language Honors Society and Black Student Union.

Moore was named “All-American” all four years for cheerleading and song leading. She qualified to cheer at the Pearl Harbor Parade in Honolulu in 2022. She is equally enthusiastic about being a spectator. Every year she cheers on a friend, who performs in a band, and for two years, Moore cheered on her mother and older sister as they performed in the BodyVox dance company during the Rose Festival Starlight Parade.

Moore completed the UNCF Portfolio Project, a 14-week college preparatory program and Les Femmes Debutantes, an organization that empowers young women.

Olivia Baker

St. Mary’s Academy

An ambassador at St. Mary’s Academy, Olivia Baker helps create a safe environment for students to become comfortable and to do their best. Baker helps freshmen and sophomores bond with others, especially during the freshman retreat and serving as a helpful resource to eighth graders considering St. Mary’s for high school.

Baker’s education plan is to attend a four-year university to study psychology, child development or elementary education. Her career choices include child development specialist, pediatric occupational therapist or teacher.

Her love of hospitality extends beyond St. Mary’s. Baker is equally proud of her city. She loves to introduce people to her favorite Portland sites including Washington Park, the International Rose Test Garden, the Zoo, Powell’s bookstore, and all of the Rose Festival events, especially the Starlight Run and Parade, dragon boat races, fleet week and the Grand Floral Parade.

Baker’s high school honors include the St. Mary’s Academy Certificate of Excellence for Anatomy and Physiology, Spirit Squad captain, second team All-League Volleyball and the school ambassador program.

The coronation of the Portland Rose Festival Queen of Rosaria is Friday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at the Oregon Park, N.E. Oregon St. and 30th Ave., Portland, 97232.

The new queen is named during an investiture ceremony. For one year, she will represent the city of Portland and the Rose Festival at appearances throughout America and abroad. Judges make their selection based on leadership, scholarship achievement, school activities, civic involvement, volunteerism and communication skills.
